Given the organisation of healthcare in Slovenia, which is organised at three levels, primary, secondary and tertiary, the need for appropriately trained palliative care providers is already high and will certainly increase in the future. In accordance with the National Palliative Care Programme, palliative care can be provided in the patient’s home, in hospitals, in nursing homes, in institutional care providers in day or full-day formats, or in a hospice. In all these areas, there is a need for additional trained palliative care professionals, so employment opportunities are good.
