The study programme is performed as part-time study adjusted to employed students. Lectures are carried out during the week in the afternoon and on Saturdays in the morning. Lectures of different subjects are mainly organised to be performed one subject after another. Only two study subjects at the most are carried out in the same period.
In line with the EU Directive, which stipulates that at least half of the duration of a nursing degree programme should be devoted to clinical training, the clinical training component of the Nursing degree programme comprises 2300 hours. It is treated with the same importance and attention as the theoretical part of the curriculum.
Clinical training is provided in the teaching establishments of the Faculty in the various professional fields, in accordance with the curriculum. All the institutions with which we conclude contracts for clinical training have the status of teaching institutions with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia.
With the aim of quality implementation of clinical training as an extremely important component of the study programme, the faculty regularly conducts professional training of clinical mentors for work with students, where they are familiarised with the objectives and content of each area of clinical training, the intended learning outcomes and methods of work.
In the modern, well-equipped specialised nursing classrooms, students receive preliminary training in laboratory exercises to carry out nursing activities in a clinical setting. In addition to integrating theory and practice, the laboratory exercises develop students’ holistic approach to patient care and teamwork.
At the end of their studies, students take a diploma examination, which is the equivalent of a thesis and is weighted at 6 credits.
