Project Description

The intensive programme was organized as a two-week summer school attended by students and higher education lecturers from partner institutions: CESPU (Portugal), the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Rijeka (Croatia), and the State Higher Vocational School in Krosno (Poland), together with students and lecturers from the Faculty of Health Sciences in Celje, the holder and coordinator of the intensive programme.

The main objectives of the intensive programme were:

  • Raising awareness among nursing students about health prevention and their role in active aging.
  • Informing nursing students about various programmes, approaches, and initiatives for active aging in different European countries.
  • Enabling students to promote active aging among older adults and active citizens.
  • Providing students with opportunities for critical and analytical exploration of the impact and outcomes of the European Year for Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity.
  • Informing nursing students about developed concepts, opportunities, benefits, and offerings in the field of active aging.
  • Exploring possibilities in terms of “what to do next” and “what can be learned from” the activities carried out in different European countries.

Project Activities

  • Organization of a two-week summer school, including lectures, workshops, and fieldwork on the topic of active aging.
  • Preparation of recommendations for future work in this field.
  • Publication of a brochure presenting the project results and recommendations for future work, with a focus on the role of nursing students.
